Who I Am And Why I’m Writing This Book
There’s no point in me taking the bullshit too far. Yes, we used to tell stories in the old neighborhood in South Philly all the time, growing up. And yes, we did it for nearly twenty years, from childhood to young adulthood, and we came up with all kinds of crazy characters who took on lives of their own, etc etc. That’s all true. As far as the Thousand and One Nights go, though, I cant say with complete honesty that we based our stories upon that old classic. Although, we could have. I mean, it’s within the realm of possibility. But the fact is we didnt. I’m making that part up. The other fact is that I’m currently out of work, and with kids and all the rest of that good stuff hovering over me, I definitely need to make some dollars. So, when I consider all the different ways there are in this world to earn income, then I have to say that the prospect of earning income by writing stories is a prospect that has great appeal to me. The thought of working for wages has always sent chills down my bones. And though selling drugs is immensely profitable, I just dont think I’m cut out for the criminal lifestyle. Therefore, I decided that the kinds of stories we used to swap, generally in the evenings, on the porches, with a beer or two under our belts, and maybe a little ganja floating by, might be just the ticket. It used to keep us entertained, and maybe it will keep you entertained too. So without further ado, I’ll jump right in and give my Sherman and Peabody version of how Suzy Chu’s Thousand Nights transpired here in Philadelphia, once this sorry little city in America was virtualized…
